Monterey Bay with brother Ray

Sept 16, 2014,  We headed to SFO to meet up with brother Ray Julson for a remembrance/memorial trip to Monterey Bay.  We are remembering our good times with Edie and Lloyd Julson, Dorothy Julson and Jeanette Ward.

We stayed at Borg’s Ocean View Motel in Pacific Grove.  Ray took Dorothy’s room (139) while Eric and I took Jeanette’s room (150). Both rooms have such beautiful views of the ocean.  We were able to see dolphins, whales, otters etc right out of our windows!

We began our journey down memory lane with dinner at the Old Bath House, which is now the Beach House!

Wed Sept 17: Eric and I went to Moss Landing to meet with a birding guide.  He was really terrific, we got 11 new birds!

Picked up Ray for lunch at another great restaurant on the pier, Sandbar, of course Sand Dabs and artichokes were on the menu and on our table.

On the dock they were unloading sardines!

After a wonderful walk by the ocean and cocktails in Ray’s room we went to a new place for dinner, a brew pub on Cannery Row.

Thurs Sept 18: Tried a new place for breakfast on the pier then off to go hiking at Jack's Peak.

After a 3+ mile hike and about 2 hours it was time for us to go for our 17 Mile Drive to Pebble Beach and Lunch at Stillwater on the 18 hole.  It is such a beautiful drive thru the woods and near the ocean.

A light dinner was at another new place in downtown Pacific Grove.

Our time here went too fast.  Of course we did not hit all the "hot spots".  We made new memories while remembering past visits.

We have decided that this is our most favorite place to vacation.  It is so perfect, the ocean smell and sound, the ability to walk right by the ocean for miles, the food is always good and of course our wonderful memories.  We had such good times with the family for many years and it was good to “come home” again.
