The rest of June 2019

Fun visit with cousins Christine, Linda and Danny.  We took a leisure ride on Mud Lake for a few hours.  Linda made Ham Goodies that we all enjoyed.  Its always fun to visit with these girls.  We had a lot to catch up on.

Eric caught a big Bass

Saturday we met Linda and Danny in Hayward for Musky Fest.

someone had a 17 day old Cooper's Hawk  look at the feet on that baby!

After shopping and shopping all the vendors we went for a pizza and Bloody Mary.  Both were good..

Wednesday June 26:  golfing on the league at Tagalong Golf Course I (Kathy) finally got a Chip In!  It was pure luck, but fun to watch that little white ball roll into the cup from about 30 feet away.  Never got a par but only 12 putts was pretty good for this ole girl.   Then to celebrate summer finally showing up we took the to lake for a 5 hour cruise.

Friday June 28:  we packed up and headed to Steven's Point.  On our way we stopped at

It was a nice walk through the woods and around water.  It was not too hot when we began our walk but by the end it was pretty hot!  The sun had not been out all morning and when it did come out it was bright and strong.

We found this place in Steven's Point

Beautiful paths and wonderful woodworking signs, maps etc..  We especially loved the benches.  Some people are so creative

The back of the benches were carved too!

What a great place to visit.  We ended up in Plover Wi (about 7 miles down the road) at the Hampton Inn.  Our hotel was right next to the Korean Memorial Park and a Shopping mall!  the park is beautiful with a nice walking path and a beautiful Memorial to those who served in the Korean War.  Our room looked right out over the park.  so serene.  The strip mall was fun too.  O'so Brewery is there and Mikey's Pub too.  We enjoyed both of these places.

We went looking for that elusive Greater Prairie Chicken again!!  this is our 4th time and again no luck.  we really need to come here in April..  we also looked for the Kirtlands Warbler without success..  The day was very hot (90) and mostly sunny.  We found the Sculpture Park in Steven's Point, it was a nice walk through the woods with a lot of big pieces of art.  Very interesting.  Dinner was at

Their claim to fame is they are the Home of the first EVER Salad Bar!  The pan fried walleye was great as was the pan fried chicken livers.  Way too many livers for Eric to eat but he enjoyed them immensely.   Our service and the club it self was beautiful.

the bartender made a wonderful Brandy Old Fashioned Sweet that was perfect.  this club had been the focus of a 30 minute PBS feature called Supper Clubs 101.  We watched it on You-tube.  pretty good.

June 30-July 1  we went to Wisconsin Dells to meet up with Roberta and John Gaskill.  It rained pretty hard on the way down lots of wind too.  We went to two wineries, Prairie Hawk and Fawn Creek.

the winery had a very bad winter that killed off their grape vines.

Both wineries were so much fun.
Dinner at Del-Bar Supper club then a short session at the casino, rounded out our first day.

Monday began with a light rain but ended up sunny, hot and humid.  We went to Pirate Cove Mini Golf,  Eric won the round and I came in last...  fun morning.

A little walk downtown before snacks and Bloody Mary's at Monks.  We had time for two more wineries, Broken Bottle and the sister winery Baraboo Bluff Winery.  Beautiful place to sit and relax.  We had a 3:30 date at Elusive Escape room.  We had a lot of hints and almost made it before our clock ran out.  we needed about 45 more seconds!!  oh it was fun but not easy...

one final dinner at Sprecher's and a little session.  Wow what a great two days with two great friends..
