Our latest project was to install a Purple Martin house. They won't show up until next spring (we hope) to set up residence. Eric constructed a new Arbor as the old one just fell apart. Both look good and should stand for many years.
We found this beautiful Scarlett Tanager that was changing colors.. He was a very vibrant red with black wings for his summer coat, molting into his winter coat now..
Walleye bites for Friday Fish Fry.. Eric has become quite the outdoor cook!
Finished product!
Birthday cake! just the perfect size for two.
We went for our morning walk one day, we found young turkey parts in the driveway! Assuming a coyote or hawk got one of our young poults!
and now there is 4! we started with 8 then 5 now 4...
Our colt is getting so big! Aug 10
so is our fawn!
We finally found these tasty treats! I have been looking for them for about a month. The inside is milk chocolate! good tasting right out of the bag
Harvest time
Air show on Mud Lake, at least 3 planes on the water and 10 in the air including a helicopter. Lots of touch and go's kept us from our nap! Always something to keep us amused.
Time to take our new vehicle on a test trip. Where to go? Marquette Michigan about 250 miles from home on Lake Superior.
We found another "Whispering Giant" in Wakefield Mi. This is our 10th out of 63! our first one was in Dec 2013 in Winslow Az. Maybe now that we are not dragging the RV behind us we can stop and look for the other 53. There are at least one in each state, some have two in different cities.
Monday Aug 24: After a great nights sleep we went out looking for places to hike etc.. We began the day with a Waterfall!
the bog walk was not complete and a bit wet but good for birding.
On the very tip of the Peninsula we hiked around
There is a place where kids feel the need to jump off of a cliff into the water! Not sure why but here they go...
We found a few places to hike then stopped at a few breweries, Iron Ore Brewery and
and finally for dinner in downtown Marquette for some delicious Superior White Fish!
Beautiful weather today hope for the same tomorrow.
We found lots of hiking trails along Lake Superior and inland too.
We stopped at a Sculpture Garden that was pretty cool..
Dinner was across from our hotel at Hudson's Classic Grill. Good food, good prices, outside and good service! Great way to end our fabulous day.
Heading home on Wed expecting to see some rain and we were not disappointed! Rain for the first few hours.
We really enjoyed our little escape from feeding the animals! Marquette is such a pretty place with so much hiking along the lake and in the woods. Everyone in Michigan wore masks, including while sitting outside at restaurants and walking around town. A lot of the places we went to walk were kind of crowded, which surprised us. Why was it so crowded? Where did these people come from? Is any one working?
the animals were waiting for us when we got home... We did miss them...
Our colt is getting bigger than mom..
Our big buck came by..
He is so big compared to the fawn
