Happy New Year
Jan 1: Began the day at the fitness center.. Eric owned the pool! We headed up to Tucson for a day of birding. We ended up with 77 birds, not bad... We did get a few "Rare" birds and actually went looking for two of them, something we don't tend to do but it was only about 15 miles away soooo...

by mid day we had 69 birds, I looked at our progression in the lower US 48 for our status. Crazy but it was the same as it was yesterday! We were #197 last year and #197 at that exact time today!
Our weather has been perfect for being outside and even a pool afternoon! Cold front coming next week. We did get a few rare birds including the elusive Elegant Trogan!
Sat Jan 4: After running 2 miles on the treadmill this morning, I was heading out the door to the fitness room. An 80 year man opened and held the door for me, as I was passing him he said "You must have had a good workout as you are "Sparkling"! I used to say that I don't sweat but glisten but from now on I "Sparkle"... Nice way to begin the day.
Jan 7: we have been lucky so far this year, the weather has been above normal, no wind and sunny skies. That is about to change, the next couple of days are forecasted to be cold and windy.
Wed Jan 8: yep its windy, in fact so windy that we can't see the mountains for the dust
A very good day for a Walmart and Safeway run. And to go to the movie theater. Went to see A Complete Unknown, about Bob Dylan. Great movie, great popcorn, close and not too expensive. The wind kept up for most of the day. Temp only hit 55 but the sun came out for awhile.
Thurs Jan 8: oh boy 29 deg this morning for Eric's swim and the pool heater was not working!
We met up with Jeff E. for lunch at Wisdoms in Tucumcari. Lunch was wonderful and so was our conversation!

Our weather is been cold in the mornings but warming up with sunshine and light winds by 9:00. Eric still swims and we still go walking but it's cold!!! Jan 14: the temp when Eric went swimming was 24 deg! of course the pool is 84 and the hot tub is 104 so he does ok.
Jan 15: This is the middle of our stay here. 2 1/2 months gone and 2 1/2 months left to enjoy the desert. Seems like we just arrived.
Jan 17: Getting ready for our 2 week trip to Hawaii! Packing has been a challenge for hiking and birding. Not bringing any long pants!
