March 2025. Green Valley

Mar 1: the day started out a little cool but warmed up quickly.  The winds came in fierce and strong.   I found a new friend.. he wanted to come home with us but no room in the car...

March 5:  up early to go listen for owls at the top of the mountain, (well, not really the top, but as far as we can drive).  Heard 2 of the 3 we were looking for.

Fri March 7:  finally we got some rain...  it has been sooo dry that the birds have not shown up.  we only got about 1/8 inch but better than nothing.

Sat March 8: Lunch with Jeff and Joan today.  We had a great visit and a great lunch.

Mon March 10: count down...  we leave here in 3 weeks!   so far March is not as warm as the last few years.  but we still enjoy our afternoons on the patio.

Wed March 12: off to Sierra Vista for the night.  we normally stop there for a few days on our way home but make reservations too late to get a room..

An eye in the sky on the ground?

fun 1 night trip.  we got a few new year birds.  dinner at Tombstone Brewery, chicken tenders with homemade fries and a chicken club sand.  both were pretty good.   We hung around Sierra Vista until about 11:00 am then off to Patagonia and home.

rainbow...

Fri March 14:  lunch with Jackie and John from Wisconsin, at Wisdoms.  fun lunch with fun conversation.   We began our day at the Hawk Watch, seen one Zone Tailed Hawk before lunch.  After lunch we went back to the Hawk Watch but it was very windy and cold, so we left...

Mon March 17: Happy St Paddy's Day.  2 weeks left here in Green Valley.

Sat March 22:  time to make a nest!

Zone tailed Hawk

One week left and it finally got to the 80's!  Sure are enjoying our patio and view.  Been packing and cleaning out the pantry and refrigerator, the freezer is cleaned!

Hit 90 today Tues March 25.   We got out early for our walk and had lunch at Taco Grio.  Taco Tuesday was good.  still packing and cleaning...

Been going to some of our favorite birding/hiking spots one last time. Birds are slow to migrate this year.

Domestic Mallards

Double Crested Cormorants

Lunch at Guadalajara Original Grill in Tucson.  Pork Carnitas Fajitas.  good but not the best.  great service and good food.

March 28. Great Horned Owl

Sunday March 30:  Our final day at the fitness center.  Said our good-byes to our new friends.  Spent the day packing and putting the house back to how we found it.  Moving furniture etc.. Roxy and Cheryl came over to pick up the 50" TV.   We enjoyed it for 5 months, back to the little TV's for one day!

Monday March 31: we leave the house at 8:15 as check out is 10:00am.  Our destination today is only 30 miles away in Tucson, so we will have time to go up the mountain one last time.   We will be at the Doubletree near the airport.  We did not get some of the birds we hoped to get before leaving Green Valley.  A final stop at Sweetwater Wetlands, although it was a bit warm.  We checked in at 3:00, hung at the pool (by ourselves) until dinner time.  we ate at the hotel restaurant, Finnigans.  The service was good the food just OK. but we could walk there and had a $30 voucher.

We had a great 5 months at Moon River Place.  Good neighbors, nice house, beautiful view, quiet and comfortable.
