April 18: so glad to be home! Everything started up without incident, unpacking began with a time out for a sauna.
April 19: big shopping day at Walmart. We did go for a walk on the Red Cedar River in Rice Lake before shopping.
Rice Lake had a nice crowd on Main Street demonstrating the current administration and its lawlessness.
Rick and Rita came over to welcome us home. Eric made a wonderful fire and I made a delicious pot of Chili! Fun time with great friends.
Friday April 26: rainy day, good day to do indoor chores. Eric needed to go to the post office in Birchwood. We decided to go late and stop at Mary's Bluegill Bar for 1 drink. the place had a few customers at 4:00. We sat at the bar ordered my first Spotted Cow on tap for the season. A few ladies sat next to us, they played the dice games, (we know nothing about the games) But one roll of the dice and one of the ladies won the $280!! She bought a round for the bar ($38), thus we had to have 2 drinks... We are thinking that we might be good luck, as the last bar we were in (in Burnsville MN) the couple at the bar won at least $800 that we know about while we were there. hmmmm
We are seeing lots and lots of Yellow Rumped Warblers. hoping the migration of the other warblers is just around the corner
So far we have only seen Poppy. She must be hanging near the nest while he sits on it. He remembers that he walks Eric to the garage when he needs corn.. Our deer are hanging around too. they are not skittish so assuming the same as last years group.
Mon April 28: oh boy, we had rain and wind most of the day but the big storm came about 6 pm. Well actually not a wet storm but a wind storm. The power went out at about 6:30 pm. We headed to the basement just in case.. The wind was really twirling and very strong. no rain, no hail just wind.
Electricity came back on at 5;30 am.. cold morning but lovely afternoon.
Wednesday April 30: a great day to smoke a pork roast
Always good to be home no matter the weather...
