Sept 2025:

Great weekend for weather!   A few days out on the pontoon.  Neighbors came by with the grandkids for a quick visit.  They enjoyed picking pears and plums to take home.

We did get up at 2:30 to see a bit of the Northern Light show.

Sept 3: oops the weather has turned pretty cold...  36 tonight??  good day for a sauna!  and of course the heat went on....  heat and sauna's for a few days to begin Sept.   Jr is getting up in the air, he flew about 6 ft high for about 50 feet!  Of course Poppy and Mamma encourage him to spread his wings. Finished the puzzle, cleaned out some more stuff etc...  good days to hang inside.

Saturday Sept 6: Jr flew over the garage!  She found her wings! (we are pretty sure its a female) We went to Brill for their fest with Rick and Rita, great band, good food at Wagon Wheel.

Fri Sept 12: Guys weekend, looking to be hot and muggy for the gathering of the Friendly Hills/Sibley High School gang.  8 in total, Eric, Steve, Gibby, Rick, Keith, Pogo, Scott and Lee.  A bit of rain on Friday night put a little damper on the gathering.  Of course lots of food and fun conversations were shared.

I went to Eau Claire alone for the weekend. Left the house at about 10:30. Made a few stops before checking into the Home2 Suites at 2:30. I had an appointment at Best Buy as I was having issues with my new laptop. They kept it as it seemed to be having lits of issues!!!
Dinner next door from the hotel, Mannys Mexican restaurant

Saturday Sept 13: I left the hotel at about 8:00 after a little exercise and a good breakfast sandwich in my room
Found a great place to walk in Altoona next to the river. Went to 2 other places that were just ok
A bit of shopping at the mall, short nap then picked up my computer, which seems to be working!!!
Dinner at the Northern TapHouse.  service was great, food was ok.

Sunday Sept 14: left the hotel at 9:30.  made a few stops before getting home.

Tuesday Sept 16:  now that all is clean and everything put away its time to begin the long process of packing 3-4 suitcases for our 5+ month journey to Costa Rica.  Yes there are stores where we can purchase stuff but....  I need some of my own stuff and brands I like.

Sat Sept 20: Birchwoods first Ocotober Fest.  It was fun and the food was fabulous!

Monday Sept 22:  off to Superior/Duluth today.  We stayed in Wisconsin, got two new year birds on Wisconsin point.  We had a very large delicious hamburger from Kwik Trip for lunch so needless to say we did not have dinner.  We made a stop at Earth Rider Brewery and across the street at Whiskey Bar.  both were entertaining. and good cold beer.   It was very foggy all day in Superior,

Tuesday Sept 23:  off to Duluth for the day...  foggy in some places and not in others.  We got 2 more year birds today.  When we got to Hawk Ridge it was sunny and the hawks were migrating.  but that did not last too long before the fog came back.

We went to OMC Smokehouse for lunch/dinner in Duluth then to the Duluth Tap House (next door) for pour your own drinks.  we went to one in Wisconsin Dells but it was closed so this is our first one!  luckily it was happy hour so 1/2 price.  we ended up with a $10 bill for 9 beers.  now most were only 2 ounces but still....  good price and good way to taste a bunch of new beers.

Wed Sept 24: we head home today.  made a few stops before getting home.  Turned out to be a beautiful day.   Finally heard from my friend Luis in Costa Rica about the rental car!  been working on getting this project since February!  Just a few more small details need to be worked out but getting so close to scratching this off of my to-do list.

Our colors are just changing, great day for a pontoon ride

Rita and Rick invited us over for homemade bratwurst patties!  All of the food was great and the conversation lively!  love going over to their house.

our colors are beginning to change

Sunday Funday:  beautiful day to visit with neighbors, hang on the pontoon and go to Pine Ridge for Fish Fry Sunday!  the food was good and no line to get in...

Monday Sept 29:  well our summer fun is over!  time to take the pontoon out of the water and get ready for winter.

Tues Sept 30: flu and covid shots today.  no reactions for either of us, just a bit of a sore arm.

a gorgeous Barred Owl...  in the woods by the driveway, two days in a row!
