October's Outings

Nothing says Fall like the Cranberry Fest in Stone Lake Wi.  No better way to begin the month of October then spending the day at the Fest, weather was cooperative, sunny, no wind and about 65 deg.  Perfect for eating Cranberry Brats, Corn Dogs and smoked pork tenderloins.

It also means beginning to pack and ready the gardens and house for the winter. A beautiful day for a canoe trip:

Clear skies and no wind made it a beautiful afternoon to be on the lake.

mid October and our Roses are making a final showing..  I planted them about 5-6 years ago but only fenced them in this year..  The deer kept eating them so I hardly had any blooms.  this year they took off and are still blooming..

The rose garden had to be fenced, as the deer kept eating all of the buds.  They really grew all season long producing the most beautiful flowers.

Oct 24:  time to hit the road...  our final destination is Big Cypress National Preserve in South Florida. We plan on arriving on Dec 1.

bird count so far this month:  Life is still at 546,  year is up to 285 and month so far is 66, hoping to get a few more as we travel this week through Wisconsin and Illinois.
