After our kayak ride we headed into Naples to Tin City, a small quaint shopping and eating place. We had a wonderful dinner at The Riverside Restaurant. We have not had a grouper we did not like yet! Its like the Walleye of the South!
Wednesday we headed to Florida City/Homestead area. Everglades National Park. We found a new bird the Brown Crested Flycatcher.. did not find the Flamingo.

Hiked the park and surrounding area before going into Florida City to Home 2 hotel for two nights. This property has all suites, larger than our RV... small breakfast, nice pool.
Thursday back to Everglades NP for more hiking and exploring. Can you say mosquitoes? lots of them in the park today.
we found spots that were just unpleasant and some that were hysterical. We stopped at one spot to hike, we got about 100 feet from the truck when we were totally engulfed in mosquitoes. needless to say we ran back to the truck and brought them in the truck with us! The campground looked nice, new shower house and very large sites.
We spotted our first Crocodile! they look very much different than alligators, we had never seen one before.
The park is really beautiful, lots of hiking and of course canoeing/kayaking tails. Its about 38 miles from the visitor center to the Flamingo campground. There were lots of places to stop for a hike or to bird. After spending the entire day there we ended up in Homestead for a wonderful Mexican dinner.
Friday: This morning we headed out early to get to the other side of the state. A Kirklands Warbler was spotted at Bill Baggs SP about 60 miles from our hotel. Of course Miami traffic is bad with lots of accidents and lots of vehicles.. Needless to say we arrived at the park at around 9 am. The bird had been spotted at 8am. We hung around until 11 with other birders.
We have been to this park at least 4 times for 4 different birds with out any luck! Oh well. Kirklands warbler spends his winter in the Bahamas and nests in Michigan and Wisconsin. They know that the leave the Midwest and head towards New Jersey to the Bahamas. On the way back they stop in Florida. They are not sure where they go in-between the Midwest and New Jersey or Florida. We have tried to find it in Wisconsin but the DNR keeps the nesting area a secret as this bird is on the endangered list. Some day we will get it along with the Flamingo!!!
It seems like we did a lot of running this past week. Glad to be home. Larry made Mac n Cheese stuffed green peppers for all of us for dinner. it was very very good.
Tomorrow back to work........
