Everglades and Beach day in Naples

Jan 27th Friday night volunteer dinner.  Larry and Ruth made a delicious pulled pork for our Friday night dinner.  We brought cole slaw, Peg made wonderful potato salad and Gwen brought sweet watermelon.

for appetizers we brought

boiled peanuts and pastrami roll ups!  some liked the peanuts others didn't.

Jan 30th:  we went towards Miami to look for a few birds, did not find what we were looking for...

We ended up at

beautiful visitor center, great hiking but no new birds..

Babies!  Cormorants

mom and baby Purple Galinule

and of course the alligator hole, there were at least 50 gators laying in the sun

We ended the month with 10 new birds, count to 566!  135 for Jan.

Feb 1: beautiful day to lay on the beach in Naples.  We headed out early to walk at Sudgen Park for a few hours before setting up our spot on the crowded beach.  The last time we were here (in Dec) it was pretty lonely, today it was pretty crowded (after the picture was taken, we were surrounded with people), the snow birds have landed!  The water was about 66 degrees, of course Eric had to take a swim.
