April 3:
April 4 our mountain of snow:
April 6, more snow!
April 7 the Pussy Willows are budding!
the Rose Garden is under snow
the Fruit trees are not happy
April 8 we woke up to -3!
April 9, Temp about 40 in the afternoon, Eric checking the sap buckets, is anything running? Eric was able to go skiing at the Blue Hills today, will it be the last time for the season? Probably not, they are forecasting 10 more inches of snow this coming weekend!!!!
Not a very good year for our Maple Syruping. temps too cold, trees are beginning to bud because of the strong sun. Oh well we did try.
We have been able to take our morning walks, some times it was a bit more difficult. as the road was covered in snow and ice. We found a pair of Red Crossbills that we thought might be nesting.
April 10, 2018 My brother Danny passed away early this morning from liver cancer etc. The love of his life passed away a month ago from lung cancer. He did not want to live without her and so gave up his fight with life.
Eric has been working on getting part of the basement finished. He was able to get the electrical work done but then work halted until we can get access to the basement from the yard. (we don't want to carry everything in through the house and down the stairs).
April 11
fruit trees still have a few feet of snow
the Rose Garden, snow is finally melting enough to see the bench!
April 14 another snow storm adding 15 inches of snow
After the first 9 inches
April 15: Rose Garden bench is covered again!
April 16, after being stuck in the house for 2 whole days, we had to venture out.
The worst part of this spring is not too much sun. Hoping it comes out sometime this week.
the Pileated, Hairy and Downy all came for peanut butter.
April 18 the sun did show up for a while today. anyone ready for a snowball fight?
April 21 Spring has sprung, the sun came out, the temps were warm (60) and no wind. the lake is still covered in snow and ice. Eric was able to walk across to the neighbors property via lake.
Trees are budding
April 26: Ok already we are done with snow and cold. Heading to the Southwest for a much needed vacation with heat and sunshine. We have lost a lot of snow but still have ground covered in snow and of course the large mounds are still hanging in there. Maybe by the time we get back (May 7) it will be gone??
