We are in a Shutdown and New Years Eve

With the government in a Shutdown we are not allowed to work.  Luckily we are allowed to stay on the refuge but no work can be done. One of the benefits of the shutdown is that all the volunteers can get together for lunch!  We went to SPI to Kelly's Irish Pub for a great lunch and fun time.

The weather is not cooperating for our shutdown.  Cool, windy and a bit of rain makes it hard to have a beach day, golf outing or kayaking trip.  So we just walk around the refuge, there are over 60 miles of trails so we have a lot of walking we can do.

Sunday was a bit cooler (50) so we headed into Harlingen for a bit of shopping and popcorn at the movie theater. We went to see "Vice" about Vice President Dick Chenny.  It was pretty good and a bit alarming if any of it is true.

New Years Eve, cold rainy and windy.  Not a good day to be out celebrating but we are not much on being out late. We had a gathering of the volunteers in the "Outpost".  Lots of great appetizers etc and a bit of libations.
