April 2020 Texas,

We are beginning our month in Texas.  Our plan is to leave South Padre Island on April 12.  The spring migration has begun.  We have seen at least 1-3 new year birds each day, last year the big day was April 3.  We are hopeful that it happens this weekend.

We are still allowed to go to some of our favorite birding/walking spots although some have closed.  We have been very good about "physical distancing".  Very few people are out and about and everyone we run into keeps a safe distance while still being friendly.

April 3 our neighbor in Birchwood sent us this picture of his yard!  Oh boy

2+ inches of new snow.  sure looks pretty A few days later the snow was gone but Hail covered the ground.. hope mother nature gets all of this out of her system before we get home.

The county and city are making more restrictions everyday.  We need to somehow find some mask or bandanas to cover our face.  Anyone outside must wear a face mask.

We took an old t-shirt and cut off the sleeve, it works perfect!  We did go to Walmart to purchase bandanas.

Our final few days here in the RGV was fabulous, the weather was hot and humid.   we did have one cool rainy day  which made the birds drop down on the island We ended up getting 2 new life birds!

The birds were migrating through.  We did manage to get to the state park one more time before they closed.

We did get one last walk on the beach. and one last stop for a beverage at Claytons.

Not sure what is happening with Eric's hair??

Heading for home on April 9...

We managed to get everything into the truck!
