A bit cooler than we like, we did get our for a walk to check out the hood before heading into Rice Lake to restock the house. more unpacking and checking out the property. It's good to be home!
Snow on April 19, only flurries but cold enough for snow! Our Poppy (male Sandhill Crane) came by to show Eric where the corn is kept! Assuming Mama is sitting on a nest. A great day for a Sauna!
Poppy has shown up for corn for the last two days, Momma showed up on Sunday after Poppy relieved her of nesting duties.
Eric got the wood shed up and running on Sunday as it was a sunny and warmish afternoon. We are slowly getting everything set up for the summer. We took a quick ride around Long Lake, new houses are being built, not too many birds on the lake.
Trumpeter Swans flying across the lake...Rain forecasted for the extended weekend (Fri-Tues). Eric planted the cold weather veggies on Thursday April 25..
Beautiful Eastern Bluebird on our morning walk.. hoping we get a few on our property this year.
Waiting for the Orioles and Hummingbirds, a Yellow Bellied Sapsucker showed stopped by for a bit of grape jelly!
Don't remember seeing a snake this big on our property before! Eric found this one in the detached garage, and yes did the "Snake dance".
Cold, Wind and Rain for the remainder of the month! good time to clean closets etc.
Poppy has Eric trained, he (Poppy) stands by the detached garage and stares into the door waiting for Eric to see him. Poppy knows the corn is stored there, wonder if he will ever go inside? He waits patiently until Eric comes close then walks away. Follows him to the feeding spot. sometimes he does a little dance before he eats.
April 30: only decent day to put the pontoon into the water! lets hope the sun comes out and stays out!
its always good to be home but sure wish the weather was a bit better. Hopefully we get a lot of May flowers with all of the April showers we had...
