June 2: Happy 66th Birthday to Eric!!! A great day to spend with friends on the pontoon. Hot, Humid and windy! We stopped at Pioneer and Rockford for potty breaks. We were the only boat at the sand bar! not too many boats out on the water. A perfect day to celebrate.
We went to the Tree Farm to check it out and do a little mowing. The trees look good!
Saturday June 7: Barron County June Dairy Month Breakfast! We have not been to one in a few years, between Covid and Eric's birthday trips we missed a few. We picked up Rick and Rita at 6:30 for their first breakfast. Pretty crowded but the lines moved fast.
Monday June 9: we got 6 pieces of mail yesterday! pretty unusual for us to get more than 2 pieces in a week. Turns out 4 of the pieces were from the end of March and mid April! Where O Where were they vacationing? We have been trying to eliminate paper mail but sometimes you got to get something.
June 10 BEAR!!!
Wed June 11: visited with Cousin Linda and Danny in Hayward for lunch. So much to talk about as we have not seen them since last August.
2 days of rain: almost got the puzzle finished!
Sun June 15: off to Minnesota for a few days. tonight we are in Proctor MN, west of Duluth. Oh yes its mid June and cold and windy and misty in Wisconsin/Minnesota
Looking for the Whimbrel that was here 2 days ago. and Yes we did Not find it...
Mon June 16: off to Bemidji today. It was a cloudy day for the most part. A little bit of rain while driving but all in all a great day. We got 5 new year birds taking us to 460 for the USA. We stopped at a few places including the Sax-Zim Bog. no luck with the Great Gray Owl but we really did not expect to find one. We arrived at the Doubletree in Bemidji at 3:00.
We are on the 6th floor... no-one above us walking all night long!!
Off to buy breakfast items before going next door to the Green Mill for pizza. Again we lucked out and have a restaurant that we can walk to dinner. Our hotel is right on the lake.
Tuesday June 17: We had breakfast in our room then headed to Itasca State Park.
We hiked a few trails, beautiful park. Lots of warblers singing in the woods. No new year birds until we left the park and made a stop on our way back to the hotel. 2 more birds!
After a brief break we headed to the pool/spa area of the hotel.
the pool was a warm 88-90 deg! I was able to walk right in... a bit too warm for Eric
after a brief walk downtown we went back the the Green Mill for a beverage and appetizer.
Wed June 18: got up at 3:30 to go find (listen) the Yellow Rail. this bird is very hard to see but easy to hear late at night or early morning. we chose to get up early.. it was about 30 min drive from our hotel
foggy over the bog and the sun was coming up! we are pretty far north
After breakfast in the hotel restaurant we headed to Bemidji State University. Eric enjoyed his freshman year here before transferring to the University of Minnesota
Off to downtown one last time. Our first stop was at the Keg & Cork
Music by the lake on Wednesday's. big crowd enjoying the weather, music and dancing. 
Not sure what kind of music it was... instrumental, not polka, but some kind of Eastern European? any way it was fun to hang with the locals.
we were at 10 new birds and 10 new beers but now are at 13 new beers.. got some catching up on the bird list!
Thursday June 19: back to Proctor MN for one night. A number of stops including back to the Sax-Zim Bog. no new year birds although we tried very hard! We arrived back at the America-Inn in Proctor at about 3:30.

we had been here before too, well actually they moved the taproom so this was new to us. Nice place, big but we sat inside as the fog was coming in and the wind was blowing. We went back to the hotel for dinner.
Friday June 20: back to Birchwood. a few stops for walks etc before going lunch at Strongman BBQ in Trego. Food and service were great.
Bemidji got hit with very high winds on Friday night. A swatch of high winds about 10 miles wide wiped out trees and did major damage. Electricity was out for almost a week. It hit right where we were staying and hit the University too. Luckily we were already home. Luckily no one was injured but lots of clean up.
Hot and humid temps expected this weekend. first time putting the A/C on as soon as we walked in the door. good weekend to sit and chill. Finished the puzzle, it was a tough one!
Monday June 23: Girls day in Spooner. I picked up Rita at 10:00 to celebrate her birthday last week. We started at the Wobblin Duck for a Bloody Mary, then shopped the downtown stores with a quick stop at Dicks BigHorn bar. we found a few things to purchase then off to Tracks for a nice lunch. We were able to sit outside as the dew point and temps were much lower than over the weekend.
finally got back out on the pontoon.. the young eagles are gettin big, looks like there are 2 of them. did not see Poppy since we left for Bemidji. hoping the chick hatched and should see him in a few days.
time to get new glasses! 7 Hummingbirds hanging on the feeders. The kids have fledged.

June 28: twin are getting big!
Fun month visiting Bemidji and waiting for our little ones to grace us with their presence
June 26: WE have TWINS! Poppy brought the family over to hang in the yard today. It was raining, but that did not stop them from hanging..
Friday fish fry at Trailways with Rick and Rita. they all had the cod fish, I had Walleye Cheeks! they were delightful!
