September 2026. Min-Wis

Sept 1:  Hung in Bloomington for the day.  lots of places to walk, eat and hang out.

Sept 2: back to Wisconsin and time to get serious about the garage sale! We stopped at a few places to walk and look for migrating birds.  We did find some wild Hops!  Never seen them before.  Not sure how much is needed to make a batch of beer but we only took pictures.

Friday Sept 4:  our first customer for the garage sale came at 7:45.  We ended up getting about 2 vehicles each hour, except between 11-12 when no one came.  We got rid of lots of stuff, $335 worth of goods sold.  The free table did the best!  Some of the neighbors stopped by for a visit and to see how we were doing.  One neighbor (Jody) we had never met before, so that was nice.

only the wooded TV trays are gone, none of the big stuff, hopefully on Saturday we will get rid of the big stuff...

I think I took a picture of this plant before.  Its very poisonous, but very pretty

Saturday began a bit slow but picked up in the late morning early afternoon.  Lots more stuff is gone although money wise it did not amount to much.  $181.  Met more of the neighbors, which is priceless..  Turned out to be a great day.

Sunday clean up the pole barn day.  Eric took a lot of stuff out to the road, and most of it was gone by end of day!  Lots of the other stuff will go to Goodwill. Some we will keep and others will be put on Marketplace.  by end of day had one hit on Marketplace,,

We enjoyed a nice afternoon on our lake.  Spoke to a few neighbors, right after we got back upstairs, Sharon (our neighbor) called asking if we would rescue the Gustafson's as their Pontoon died in the channel..  Of course we went and got them.

Tuesday Spent the morning in Rice Lake, dropped off a bunch of stuff at Goodwill, banking, and even got a walk in as it was raining when we left home.

Wednesday finally turned the A/C off..  It's been a very warm summer and dry.

Pretty slow weekend, packing, cleaning etc but enjoying the outdoors and running into a few neighbors on our daily walks.

The Cranes finally came back for some corn.  Not sure why they were gone so long, everyone else came back, turkeys, deer, birds etc...

Monday Sept: 14. off to Bloomington again for the day.  Suppose to rain all day!

Tuesday: it's always something up here in the Northwoods.  Sheron called, she has a tree down on her driveway.  Can Eric take care of it?  It was way too big for us to take care of it but did manage to get the driveway open.

The tree guy came out Wed afternoon to finish the job.

Received some wonderful news!  Hanna (niece and husband) and Erik are expecting a boy at the end of the year!

Thurs Sept 17: we finally made it to Rice Lake for the Alaskan cod from On the Hook, food truck.  We had tried all summer to make it when they were in town.  They only come about once a month.  Well... it was a bit pricey (but what isn't), a bit skimpy on the fish, lots of fries.  It was good but we don't need to do it again.  Glad we did but now we know...

Friday Sept 19:  I am off to Bloomington for Guy's weekend. The weather looks to be ok, for the annual Guys weekend, not great but ok.   A bit of rain on the way to meet up with my friend Mike T.  Had a great lunch and fun time catching up.

Steve G and Rick L showed up at the house by noon on Friday.  Keven P and Lee H showed up on Saturday.  Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate but they found stuff to do and enjoyed hanging out, cutting wood, eating and visiting.

Monday Sept 21:  eye doctor appointment at 8:00am.  Cataracts are growing fast!  appointment in April to have it evaluated..  hopefully I can still see by then.

Spent most of the day, cleaning up outside and packing for Texas.

after a much needed sauna, our water pressure went low.

Tuesday: Butterfield came out to give us a new water pump.  They were the ones who put the old one in, in 2012.  Glad they could come right out, took them about 2 hours. Back to normal again.  Except for the pontoon not running!  We planned on taking it out for the season.  Maybe tomorrow it will run?

the time of year for cleaning outside and inside, packing and donating.  The sun came out, the wind was light made for a great day, except for the pontoon motor not kicking over.

The annual fall picture.  not quite as colorful but maybe try again in a few days

The Cranes are still hanging and getting very gray Sept 24

Rick and Rita came over to tow the pontoon out!  how sad...

beautiful day to take the pontoon out..  looks so calm and relaxing.

Sept 25: Rick and Rita came by with fresh White Fish from Lake Superior to make us dinner!
 it was sooo good..

Saturday Sept 26: A wonderful fall day, sunshine and a bit of wind.  Went to Rice Lake in the afternoon to the BS on Main bar for a drink.  Octoberfest activities at the bar.

a bite of the apple

House in Rice lake ready for Halloween!

great night for a fire!

Monday Sept 28:  luckily we are having a few beautiful days of sunshine and warm weather.  but that will change later this week.  Taking advantage of the great weather..

Cleaning up is making our property look pretty good and financially rewarding!  $70 worth of metal scrap sold, garage sale/marketplace sales at almost $3000.  the trees are really showing off their colors. Have not seen the Cranes in a few days.

Tuesday Sept 29:  today is vaccine day!  I got 3, Covid, Flu, RSV.  Eric got two,  Covid and Flu.  We leave in two weeks and our calendar is booked, good day to get shots.

Another busy month in the Northwoods.  Still working on getting updated Visa credit cards as it seems like USPS lost the mail for Monday and Tuesday this week.
