August, summer time in the Northwoods

We headed to Duluth MN area via northern Wis, Lake Superior looking for a few new birds.

we finally see a new bird! the Black Tern in Crex Meadows  #501 on Kathy's B-Day!

We visited with cousins Anne and Emmett at their new place near Hayward Wi, about 40 miles from us, got some great fishing time in...

We headed to Marshfield Wi (Center of the state) to get a new fuel tank installed on the F350.  The tank that comes with the truck is only 26 gal..  we upgraded to 50 gallons..  It required that we spend the night in Marshfield as it is over 150 miles and we needed to drop the truck off by 6 am.

Marshfield is a quaint little town, with a great zoo!  after checking in at the hotel we walked the zoo then dinner at the Blue Heron Brewery.

 We also found the worlds larges round barn! at the fairgrounds

our truck was suppose to take 7 hours but only took 3.5!  we had planned on doing more hiking and sight seeing.. maybe another trip to Marshfield is in the future!

Our fruit trees are really producing this year

we did make some plum and blueberry jam and blackberry jelly.  its all good..  lots of peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches this winter..

We both had very bad colds/allergies that took a few weeks to get over and put a cramp on our summer activities.  But we were able to visit with cousins  Linda, Debbie and Christine!

it is so much fun to visit with the cousins.  we always talk about the old days and family members.

The end of the August means the Minnesota State Fair begins.  Of course we headed to St Paul to enjoy some time at the fair with Roberta and John Gaskill.   Lots of good food and fun to be had at the fair.

Waiting for the concert to begin:  The Grassroots, The Cowsils, The Buckinhams, The Association, Mark Lindsey from Paul Revier and the Raiders and of course The Turtles.

Bird count for August:  total 502  (2 new birds in Aug)  365 for the year (4 new year birds)  100 for the month.  the last two weeks of the month really slowed down, maybe its time for us to look at heading south with the birds!
