On Thursday Sept 1, we took the Caddie for a 185 mile cruise to Hinkley Mn then back home. We made a few stops along the way, Casino, winery, cheese factory and dinner at Tracks in Spooner Wi.
Friday was our "chore" day..
Harvesting celery
chives
finished product; Roberta's famous potato salad
Green peppers for
John's famous Egg and Pepper sandwiches
the Best Egg and Pepper sandwich ever!
While Roberta was busy cleaning and chopping, John was in charge of squirrel management. (keeping the squirrels off of the bird feeders)
while Eric worked on the puzzle
Next project was to make Blackberry syrup. I had picked the blackberries in mid August.
time to get that juice!
John took over so that Roberta could continue making her salad
that bowl gave us 4 cups of blackberry juice. We strained it about 10 times to ensure that there were no seeds. 4 cups of sugar and a tablespoon of lemon juice and pectin. cook for 2 minutes and package into hot jars. It turned out perfect! the wild berries really gives the syrup a very intense flavor.
After our chores were completed and our wonderful lunch was eaten we visited with a friend that is building a new home on Lake Chetec.
The guys grilled chicken and corn on the cob to go with the potato salad for dinner! it was all good.
such a fun two days spent with our wonderful friends who don't mind doing a few chores.
Awesome working vacation!! ❤️❤️
