Valentines day

Wed Feb 14: The day began a bit cool, foggy and overcast for our walk at Estero Llano Grande SP.  There were a lot of people out there looking for those elusive birds.

Anhinga, not a rare bird but a beautiful one

About 11 am my tummy begins to ask for food, actually it starts at about 10 am, by 11 am it is screaming!   Off to Mexico!  We decided to go there for lunch along with everyone in the Valley.  The  stores and restaurants were packed!  We did a little shopping before going to Arturo's for a great lunch.

not sure if they always have red shells or just because it was Valentine's day.

We stopped at HEB for a Tres Leches cake for dinner!  after eating too much food for lunch we know we will not eat a dinner but desert is always on the menu.  By the time we arrived home the weather had turned hot and humid.  Forecasted to remain hot and humid for the next 7 days!  Keep those cold fronts up north please.

After dinner (cake) we headed to Bentsen Rio State Park to look for Owls, Nightjars and Bats.   We did not find any owls, but seen a Common Pauraque feeding on the ground.  We did see and hear bats with our new toy.

Beautiful sunset over the lake in the park
