A bit chilly and wet but a great day to be out and about.  I found this cute friend, Black Bellied Whistling Duck, just hanging around on the boardwalk in South Padre Island. 

We found a  "cute" little bar about 10 miles from home.  It was a bit smoky inside, they have BBQ and music on Sundays.  But this Sunday was pretty cold, windy and rainy...  maybe before we leave??

the weather warmed up a bit for our 3 day visit to the Island.  Spring break was still happening but not crazy.  Some kids enjoying the beach and activities, we really did not run into many of them.  We think they don't go out until way after 9:00 pm and we are already sleeping.

We had our "exit interview" on Thursday Mar 28.  Sounds like we will be returning next fall.  We won't know for sure until mid April, but he made it sound like we were welcomed back. 

We were going to leave on Sunday March 31, but rain is in the forecast for late Saturday and all day Sunday.  Our road into the refuge has been under construction since before we arrived in Dec.  It is still a mess when it rains.  hopefully when we return in the fall it will have asphalt!
