We certainly enjoyed our time this year. We met so many nice people and seen so many great sites, ate so much great food and of course no snow!
One other volunteer left today too. Its always so sad to leave but it was time to get out before the rains begin tonight and make the road impassible.
We intended on leaving Sunday, so we will stay two nights here before going on to Inks Lake SP where we have reservations.
The temp got to about 90 Saturday, but dropped to 48 by Sunday morning with rain beginning over night and strong north winds to boot. Wow! crazy weather.
Rainy morning kept us inside for a few hours. We finally got out for a walk at about 9:15. We went looking for birds, hoping the cold front gave us a "bird drop" in the local park. No luck.
After lunch we headed to Kings Ranch for a tour.
Texas Bump gate, the ranch hands got tired of getting in and out of the truck to open the gate, they developed this Bump gate.
the Horse Memorial, King Ranch had one Triple Crown Winner, Assult in 1949
they developed their own bred of cattle the Santa Gretrudis, beautiful color
ya gotta have a Chuck Wagon!
Great tour guide, great day for a van tour.
We looked again for the Bird Drop but to our dismay we did not find it in Kingsville.
We found this little brewery, Javalina Watering Hole. Not too many choices but an ok place to stop for a cold one.
Tomorrow we head to Marble Falls, TX. Inks Lake State Park for 3 nights.
