We (Anne Ways-Capua and Roxane Bartelmey) met at O'hare airport for our trip to Edinburgh. We landed around 8:00am local time, upon exiting customs we were met by Anne's brother Millar, sister-in-law Rosie and nephew David. We had to wait for 2 hours for our car!
It was a overcast rainy day, the only one we had all week!
Oh, Oh we found a stow-a-way in our bags... Swoops wanted to come along (he belongs to Roxie)
After a two hour drive, and getting turned around a few times on the roundabouts we made it to Millar's home. Check in time was not until after 3:00 pm. We enjoyed a great visit while waiting to check in.
We stayed at Balcomie Castle, It has 3 bedrooms upstairs, 2 baths upstairs, one down stairs, full kitchen, living area and laundry room.
Yes there is a ghost that resides in the Castle...

Haggis the Scottish favorite... it tasted like corned beef hash with a aftertaste of Liverwurst and some hot pepper. It was good but the hot pepper made it impossible for me to finish my breakfast.

It was a fabulous trip, once in a lifetime and I am grateful for such good friends. We met some new friends who we hope to see again when they cross the pond to the USA. We had a beautiful week filled with laughing, drinking, eating and meeting Anne's wonderful family. We had great walks along the North Sea, great weather and meeting locals who were all friendly and helpful. The golf courses were phenomenal as was the countryside.
