We ant to a local nursery to purchase two fruit trees to replace dead ones. A new apple tree (Frostbite) and a new plum ( ). Also a Mountain Ash tree. They always look so big until they are planted, when they look like sticks!
May 11 is a bit early to plant tomatoes and peppers but we bought some plants and will keep them inside until the end of the month.
Mothers Day cocktails
Our birds are returning and migration has begun! May 13th was the start of a great week of warblers and other song birds. We do have a Broad Wing Hawk on a nest near the driveway. Orioles, Rose Breasted Grosbeaks and Hummingbirds visit our deck.
Beautiful Friday afternoon (finally) for a ride around the lake. Wisconsin has opened today but No bars or restaurants for us...
This big Tom is still looking for a sweetheart.
Flowers are beginning to bloom
Pear trees have lots of flowers but no bees to pollinate. Every year we get very few pears, my theory is that they bloom too early.. we get lots of apples and they have not bloomed yet..
Peonies are growing
Off to Ashland Wi for a bit of birding.....
