Spring in the Northwoods

May 1st was a beautiful day until the rain and cold front came in...  the trees are all budding, got some crops in the ground, fish fry at home tonight.  Pan fried Walleye on the grill.  But first Eric had to clean out the grill, mama mouse and suckling babies had to be evicted!

Dinner was fabulous!

May 2 buds are coming out!

 Pear tree #2

We were wondering where the bears have been.. they made a visit to the garage and bird feeders on May 4 in the middle of the night. No real damage, he did knock down one of the bird feeder poles but did not demolish it.  He did manage to open the overhead garage door but something must have startled it as he did not get into any of the bird food. Need to lock the door for awhile..The bear returned on May 5th, tried to get into the garage, almost ripped the frame of the overhead door off but did not get in. He did leave a very big "present" in the grass.  crazy bear!

We are off to Superior Wi for a few days of birding...  temps are to turn cooler but we are prepared!
