Monday Aug 5: Big Birthday and rain... good day to relax and get some inside chores done.
Tuesday: we went to the neighbors for a wonderfully smoked Pork butt. sure wish we could cook like that... guess we will need to just go over whenever they smoke food...
Wednesday: the materials are delivered to repair the pole barn, from the tree that fell on it in June.
Friday we went to the Buick Dealer and purchased a 2025 Buick Enclave. It's a bit different than our current vehicle. Pick it up on Saturday. Hmmm.. had to put the heat on! it was 65 deg when we got back home from Eau Claire.... It's Aug 9!
Saturday: Back to Eau Claire to purchase our new vehicle. 2025 Enclave Sport. pretty much like our 2020 but it's white, and does not have all of the bells and whistles.
Sunday we went with Rita and Rick to Pine Ridge for Sunday dinner at noon! wonderful chicken and walleye and the fixings. It was not crowded! assuming people don't know about the extended hours. We then picked them up for a float on the water.
Monday the crew came to repair the pole barn and our final mosquito spray of the season.
Thursday Aug 15: rain all morning... we met up with cousins Linda and Danny at Powell's on Round Lake near Hayward. Danny's birthday is tomorrow and Linda's is on Sunday.
Cousins Anne and Emmett were up at their cabin, (next to Linda's)
What a fun day hanging with the cousins.
Tuesday Aug 20, we went to Grantsburg Wi to meet up with Kim and Lowell at a local restaurant. Before meeting up we went to the wildlife refuge. not too many birds but we seen a Fisher!
He had caught a mouse for his lunch
we startled him into dropping his lunch!
hmm.. not sure why he left it behind
We had a fun visit at the restaurant then to the Brickfield Brewery for a beverage. beautiful day to sit outside and chat.
Thursday Aug 22: we planned on going for dinner at BirchLakes Resort. but the weather did not cooperate. We went to Bear Tracks instead, had a good dinner, with a fun server. As we were driving home at 5:15 we decided to go straight on the gravel road rather than go home. We headed to Stone Lake. We planned on going to the Stone Lake Pub but at the last minute went to the Red Schoolhouse. We lucked out! Live music, mostly folk music. they were pretty good, we were able to sit outside and enjoy a (expensive) can of beer. But it was all good. Music was good, people watching was good and the food looked good.
The Heat is on! Oh boy, dew points and temperatures are high for these few days. Hopefully Monday Aug 26 will be the final day of the oppressive heat. Good time to clean and sit inside and to take a nice ride on the pontoon!
Woody the WoodChuck likes his wild Blackberries!
Storms were pretty bad on Monday night. Lots of wind, thunder and lighting and of course rain. The power stayed on until the morning storms on Tuesday! and of course lots of trees down. We did not get any damage.
Lori and Steve Goodwin came up for a few days! Arriving on Friday afternoon. After a fun float on Mud Lake we made dinner to enjoy by the fire.
Saturday we spent the day on the lake. Arriving at the sandbar by 12:15, at first it was not too crowded but the crowds came for fun in the sun. What a delightful day we had talking, eating and a bit of drink.
What a great way to finish off a Fun Birthday month!
