We begin this month with very warm weather and a few storms in the forecast. We did finally take the pontoon out on our lake in he afternoon. its been a few weeks since we last took it out. Looks like we have 2 eaglets and not 1. They were squaking for food. fun to hear, one of them left the nest but only went about 20 feet from the nest.
Thursday July 2: We went to Rice Lake to check out the brewery. Agonic Brewery burned down last year and just recently reopened.
2 16oz beers for $15. in the same building, we got cheese curds
2 16 oz beers for $9 nice bar, our first time here
Happy July 4th! 250 years of the great experiment. we had fun at the Brickners shed for our annual Mud Lake gathering.
Monday July 6: The Den Taphouse in Brichwod has $5 burgers. The burgers were good, the beer could have been colder but we got to sit outside. great evening in our little town.
Friday July 10: A beautiful day to spend on the lake. We left the dock at 10:00am. We brought our lunch and snacks so no need to get off of the boat. Of course Eric had to go for a swim. We docked up with Rita and Rick as they found us floating on the water.. fun day.
Saturday: after a wonderful lunch at Birch Lakes Resort with Rita and Rick we met up on Mud Lake for a bit of floating and swimming. A nice breeze kept us cool.
Sunday Fun Day: we got on the lake by 10:15, Floated upper Long Lake until 3:00 then headed into Mud Lake for a few hours. Really nice breeze keep us cool as the temps are in the 90's.
Wednesday July 15: oh boy the smoke from the wild fires in Ontario and Minnesota Boundary waters areas covered the lake. We spent the day on the lake but it was very smoky. looked like a heavy fog but we could smell the smoke. luckily we did not see any ash.
Thurs July 16: off to Grantsburg Wi for lunch with Kim and Lowell. We left the house at 7:15 for our 1.5 hour trip to Grantsburg. We stopped in Spooner for a quick walk before getting to Crex Meadows State Wildlife area. The deer flys were there but not too bad when we walked. We met Kim and Lowell at T-Dawgs for a wonderful lunch and fun time catching up.
Friday was Stone Lake Day. We hit a few places in the late afternoon, Eagles Corner, Stone Lake Pub for a pretty good pizza and the Red Schoolhouse for music but the music was inside so we ended up going to Birchwood Blue Gill Fest.
Tues July 21, Happy 37th anniversary to us! Eric picked up Scott J in Hayward then drove south to meet up with Steve G for a 2 night camping/kayaking trip.
They had a good trip but it was a long drive for a 4 hour kayak trip. Not sure that sleeping the ground works for the old boys anymore! I in the mean time, cleaned and gathered stuff for the garage sale set for Labor Day weekend.
Saturday July 26, Ray came about 2:00. We were able to sit outside as the sun was blocked by the clouds. It's always so much fun to chat and visit with him.
Sunday was way too hot and humid to do much. We went to Spooner for lunch at Tracks then floated on Mud Lake with Rick and Rita. fun day catching up.. lots of talking and laughing
Monday July 28: Pontoon day! We. left the dock by 10:00 am and returned by 5:00. The weather was perfect for hanging on the water. High dew points, wind from the north and some clouds made for a perfect outing. We stopped at Pioneer for lunch then hung out at the sand bar. The guys got in the water while I stood guard on the pontoon.
Tuesday July 29: Ray left this morning. We had such a great time yapping, laughing and just hanging.
Dinner with Pam and Terry on Wednesday. what a hot month! We tried to enjoy the outdoors as much as possible but between the heat/humidity and smoke we spent more time inside than we like.
Been selling stuff off that we don't need or use anymore. so far made 20 transactions worth about $1500. lots more to get rid of, some of the antiques are not selling as quickly as I had hoped..
Rita and Rick came by for a fire and they brought dinner! Hot Dogs and Chili! it was so good although we had a bit of rain (light) we enjoyed a fun dinner and lively conversation.
