Dallas/Fort Worth area

Tuesday March 31, 2015  After a nice hike through the woods we left Mother Neff at about 9:30 for our 122 mile trip to Cedar Hill State Park close to Dallas.

We stayed at this park a few years ago, over 300 sites, on the lake, OK shower house but little hiking.

very big lake

hiking near by

lots of signs

March Birding:  160 birds this month, 45 new species for the year with 15 of them being life birds.

April 1: headed out to hike for a few miles at a local preserve.

too much hiking for some of us...

white eyed vireo

kildeer

Wednesday April 2:  took a short hike then headed to the beach

it was a pretty windy day but we managed to enjoy a few hours sitting and reading by the lake.

We went to this place 2.5 years ago

family style.. smoked chicken and catfish.  I will have to say they make a mean catfish here in the south.  it always tastes fresh, never greasy and OH so Good!  The smoked chicken was fabulous too.

Time to head north. tomorrow we head about 100 miles to Eisenhower SP in Denison, TX.  Our last stop in Texas!
