Oct 27 2015: Wonderful nights sleep, it is usually difficult to change beds but our bed in the RV is pretty comfortable. I usually take a week or so to figure out the correct temperature for sleeping, but last night I got it just right.. we will see if my luck continues tonight.
We left Black River Falls at about 10 am after a nice morning hike. Drove about 135 miles in 3 hours to:
just about 15 miles southeast of Madison. Really nice park, we found a nice spot that we could fit into, set up, then took a nice hike. We picked out niece Ellen G. and her roommate Molly for a nice dinner.
We had a great meal and fun conversation. What a pleasure it was to spend time with these two wonderful young ladies. Both are attending the U of Wis Madison. If we come back this way next year we will be sure to have dinner with them.
Wednesday Oct 28: Rained all night.. of course we are parked under a big White Oak tree with lots of acorns! between the rain and acorns hitting the roof all night I barely got 7 hours of sleep! The rain stopped by 9 am, the sky was very dark and cloudy and by afternoon it got very windy and the rain started again. The weatherman is forecasting a bit of the white stuff falling sometime early tomorrow morning..
we headed to our State Capital
the capital was pretty unimpressive, very quiet, clean and easy to walk around in about 25 minutes.. it was time for lunch at Ella's Deli
it was kind of a bazaar place, the food was just ok... much better deli in Palm Springs. It was actually for young kids as there were lots of mechanical characters all around the place. Superman, Beatles, happy feet, hot air balloons etc.. very noisy mechanics. we would not go back but recommend it for young children.
off to hike the Nine Springs Nature Area. it was a miserable day for a hike but... we did find some fun birds
Red Tailed Hawk
Sandhill Cranes
Great Horned Owl
We had a good time here in Madison but tomorrow we leave for Savannah Illinois about 110 miles from here.
