Savannah, Il

Thursday Oct 29, 2015  It was very cold this morning at 35 deg with a very strong wind making it feel like under 30!  Way too cold.  We did not see any snow flakes, we really hope not to see any this year.  We drove about 2.5 hours and 110 miles on county roads into Illinois, we will be back in Wisconsin next April.  The ride was pretty with little traffic.  We arrived at:

the site is pretty large with 50 amp, no water on site but available and the showers were still working. There was NO TV, Computer or Phone service!  For $20 a night it was pretty nice place to stay.

After a nice hike around the park we met up with Bill and Carol Kemmerling at their house (about 12 miles away).   We had a real fun night , one bar, one restaurant for appetizers and another for dinner..

it was all good.  Plus they took us to see some of the interesting places near their house.

Friday Oct 30: went for a hike in the cold rain and fog...

too bad it was so foggy, it was a beautiful view..

Went to Bill and Carol’s for our drive south and into Iowa.   we took a quick stop at Lock and Dam #13..

Then lunch at the Bierstub in Le Claire Iowa.  Well actually we had appetizers (German Nachos and potato pancakes) and a beer rather than a full lunch.  Beautiful ride along the river on both sides.

A stop at Antique Archeology (American Pickers)

seems a bit pricy for the box!

Eric has seen 2 of these shows.. he actually seen the one where they acquired this guy!

 Beer at Sneaky Pete’s

don't even think of wearing a tie in this place

next stop:

quick tour

of course had to make a purchase

next door is a brewery

and finally a really good fish fry at Stouts Irish Pub in Clinton Iowa.  We went back to their house for a fun visit.   Great day hanging with friends that are gracious enough to take us out and about for the whole day..  there is a lot to see in this area but not enough time to do it all..

Happy Halloween:  Rain began early this morning and continued through out the entire day.  Bill and Carol picked us up for a ride north to Galena Il and

Then off to Dubuque for a little gambling session before a great dinner in St Donatus Iowa.  Time to say goodbye to Bill and Carol.  We had a wonderful time visiting with them and so appreciate their taking us around to a lot of hot spots in their area.  We will be back some day to spend a bit more time hiking and seeing more sites.

off to central Illinois.....

    1. The food was very good, I did not have my camera in the restaurant but some of the seats were toilet seats! the tattoo parlor was not open in the evening.
