Atlanta Ga

Friday Nov 20, 2015: Today's drive was about 130 miles from Chattanooga to South Atlanta.  It was all freeway so it should have been a quick trip but... Atlanta traffic and construction added another 1.5 hours to our trip.  We arrived at

its an old place, short sites and a bit narrow but nice people and clean restrooms/showers.  We will be parked here for 2 weeks.  While we were setting up we smelled an open sewer!  yuk..  what the heck. Everyone around us checked their sewer connections, it was really bad.  Well after our long drive time we needed to go for a walk.  We found a real nice and close Wetlands area with a nice boardwalk.  We spent about 2 hours walking around there enjoying the scenery and peace.  We got back and the smell was worse!  opened up all of the windows etc..  Eric discovered it was our battery overheating...  of course he quickly turned it off, removed it from the shelf.  We headed to Walmart, got another battery and all is good.  Not sure why that would have happened, but glad it did not burn down our home..  Its always something...

Saturday Nov 21: cold overcast day but we headed out to Stone Mountain Park.  It cost $15 to enter to park then more money if you want to see or do any activities.  We were there only for the hiking.  It was a great park to hike around.

The largest high relief sculpture in the world, the Confederate Memorial Carving, depicts three Confederate heroes of the Civil War, President Jefferson Davis and Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson. The entire carved surface measures three-acres, larger than a football field and Mount Rushmore. The carving of the three men towers 400 feet above the ground, measures 90 by 190 feet, and is recessed 42 feet into the mountain. The deepest point of the carving is at Lee's elbow, which is 12 feet to the mountain's surface.

I was trying to get inside of the tree.

We went to Panola State Park for more hiking

can you see the tree climbers?

they have a tree just for climbing!

Although it was cold, kind of windy and cloudy it was a good day to be outside enjoying natures beauty.

Sunday Nov 22:  Relaxing day today.  Watching Football, getting laundry done, packing and a bit of cleaning. before we fly to Las Vegas for our annual Thanksgiving gathering with best friends. The Gaskills and The Castros.  Looking forward to our annual reunion.
