Twins, Friends and Miami

Temperatures are rising here is South Florida.  Mid 80's with a bit of wind, which helps.  We plan on leaving here March 26 for Lakeland, family matters need taking care of at this time.

We had our final dinner in Everglades City, needed to get our fresh shrimp one last time, at

cute place on the river.  Shrimp, salad and fries were are very very good...

Thurs Mar 10 we went to Shark Valley,  it was very windy but a good walk.

We have been hearing Sora's for a long time, finally got to get a picture of one!

Off to lunch

local Miccosukee Indian restaurnt.  Gator tail bites and Indian taco.  Gator was very very tough, the coating was good, tasted like chicken!  Taco was OK.  don't need to come back here.

Friday Mar 11:  Headed up to Ft Myers to go to Spring Training at Hammond Park.  of course we stopped a few times to walk and bird.  Nothing new but found a wonderful place to walk.  Florida has the best boardwalks.  We are very impressed with the birding sites, not sure why its not advertised more.  We just happen onto most of the places we go to, and they are wonderful..

Made it to the ballpark just as they were throwing the first pitch.

It was a very fun day.  We had seats behind home plate where the sun hit us for about an hour before it went behind the stands.  Needless to say it was warm sitting there.

We spent the night in Ft Myers at a Hilton Garden Inn.  We were really tired after the long day, we drove about a mile to Carrabaras for a great dinner.

Sat March 12: We had a short delay this morning at the hotel.  Someone had left a package in the lobby. They shut down breakfast and had everyone go back to their rooms.  We were just going down for breakfast!  No one was allowed to enter or leave the hotel or parking lot.  We waited in our room for about 20 minutes before they had it cleared..  How weird that was this morning.  They found the owner of the package, so all was good.  After breakfast we headed to

There were lots of shore birds as the tide was very low. We hung out here for about 2 hours before heading back to Naples to meet friends for lunch.

A fun lunch followed by a visit at Stan and Judy's home.  Its always fun to catch up with old friends.
