Fort Myers March 2-5

We found a White Morph Reddish Egret on Bunche Beach.

also found an Eastern Screech Owl at Six Mile Cypress Preserve, poking his head out of the nest box

We ended up on Ft Myers Beach for dinner and a wonderful walk.  the beach was pretty empty but lots of folks walking around the area.

Friday March 3: we went looking for the elusive Mangrove Cuckoo again this morning and later in the afternoon.  No luck... It had been seen the last few days in the Bunche Beach area.  We ran into other birders looking for this elusive bird too.

we did find a Lesser Black Backed Gull

for our afternoon we headed to Ft Myers Beach, wonderful lunch with a Yucatan Rum drink

then a lazy afternoon on the beach.  It was a bit windy, the water was warm, the sun hot. The beach was pretty crowded.  We are not sure if Spring break has started but there were a lot of young kids and collage age kids roaming the area.   Dinner at our hotel, too tired to go out and traffic is not fun...

Sat Mar 4:  After looking for birds in a few places

we headed to Hammond Park to see the MN Twins vs the Toronto Blue Jays.

It was a great game, Twins win 6-2..  Great hot dogs and brats and a few beers made it a wonderful afternoon.  The weather was perfect for watching a game.  The park is really a fun place to hang for the afternoon.

After the game we went to Downtown Ft Myers.  What a fun place to walk around, lots of restaurants.  We ended up at Capones for a beer and antipasto appetizer.

Sunday March 5: we spent most of the day looking for a Mangrove Cuckoo.  NO Luck again...  After a late lunch at Carrabbas we headed home..  great week walking, beaching and eating....  back to work tomorrow.

Tree swallows going crazy on our lake
