Birding, Tamale Fest, date shake

Saturday Dec 6:  its suppose to be a warm one today.  We headed to out for our first official bird walk. We were here last year, today we saw 23 different species including a Sora!

We walked around for about 2 hours before our tummy's started to grumble.  Off to the Tamale Fest in Indio.  We were not planning on going this year but it is kind of like the Minnesota state fair, always repeatable!

the food and weather was better than last year!  we had tamales from 3 different vendors, all pork.  the first was our favorite.

we also tried corn on the cob with the fixings, butter, salt, seasoning, cheese and lemon juice... oh soo good!

our third tamales came in second place (for us), it had won a lot of awards in the past

there is food other than tamales for those who don't eat tamales

after filling up on tamales and corn we had to stop for a Date Shake at Shields, by far the best date shake ever... 

Time to hit the pool for a quick nap and a bit of sun before setting in for the night.  The Palm Springs Lights parade is tonight, but we ran too much today and need to rest... listen to a bit of Honkey Tonk and snacks for dinner..
