2015 a year to remember

Bird count for 2015:

We finished 2015 with 6 brand new birds on 12-31!  we ended the year with 405 birds,  we were trying for 400, almost did not make that goal!

lifetime count at 524 thats an additional 105 birds this year!  that will be almost impossible to do again.

We were fortunate to be able to take a few birding trips.  We did great in Arizona although a few birds eluded us again and again but we did get the Elegant Trogan!  Our cold trip to Northern Minnesota for the Sax-Zim bog bird fest added to our list but again we missed a few key birds.  We participated in the Ashland Wi birding fest again this year.  In June we went to Virginia and North Carolina for some great birding and a pelagic tour.  We always seem to leave birds behind, maybe we do it so we can make another trip? Then making our way east this year through Illinois, Tennessee, Georgia and finally Florida gave us a huge new bird total.  We are pretty sure we had seen another dozen or so but could not confirm.  they will hopefully get on our list this year..

We did much more than Bird. We had a lot of good quality time with friends and family.  We made new friends, seen new sights, ate new foods and even learned a thing or two.  Although we both got a bug or two our health was good.

We began 2015 in the desert.  We love the desert dryness and beauty and now this year we begin it in almost a tropical forest setting, lush green and humid.  They both have their good points and bad, although a lot more good than bad.

Happy 2016
