Santa Ana Rally

Saturday Jan 27.  We went to Santa Ana early to get a few steps in and of course to find birds.  There was a rally scheduled on the farm land next to the refuge from 11-2.  We wandered over there to listen for a little while.  It was really crowded, about 600 people showed up.

We were planning on having a little lunch but did not see any food for sale..  Although cloudy it did not rain, a few sprits of heavy mist but that was it.

this evening we went to the State Park to participate in a Night program.  Our guide Roy (the manager of the park) took us on a tram ride into the park to look for night creatures.  We were hoping for some night jars and owls.  He showed us how to find spiders, tarantulas and listen for bats.  It was a 2 hour program.  We learned a lot, seen a lot of creepy crawlers but no birds..  He did a great job explaining the park.

Considering the whole day was suppose to be a wash out we had a very good day for walking and being outside.
