End of January 2018

Already one month into 2018.

We had a great lunch with Kim and Fred on Monday. Their resort is an old citrus grove, so they get lots of good fresh citrus. They gave us a large bag of oranges!  They are so sweet and tasty.  Eric makes fresh orange juice every morning!

Tuesday we drove west for a bit of birding. Nothing new but across the river we seen

A Mexican cow!

We found a bike/hike path in Rio Grande City that was a bit hilly. Had to use a rope to get up and down that hill.

Wednesday the Full Blood Blue Super moon!

I really need to use the tripod! Well, let Eric do it...

we went to Santa Ana then to Gonzales Berta's Burgers for the biggest burger.  They use fresh ground beef, they do it right on the premises.  Only open from 11-2:30 Tues thru Sat.  If they run out of meat before 2:30 too bad, they close!

The grill holds about 6-8 burgers at one time, the burgers are 3/4 to 2/3 pounds and hand made.

We arrived at noon, our number was 48, they were serving #22.  After and hour and 10 minutes we got our prize!  So fresh and so good and so big.  The fries and onion rings are frozen but pretty good.  They serve a double meat, bacon cheese burger for $16.95!  We ordered 2 burgers without cheese, fries and onion rings and drinks. Our bill was just under $25.

Bird count for Jan: Life count up 3 new birds to 590.  Can we make it to 600 before we leave here??? our month and year count came in at 182.  There are so many birds that 182 is not a hard number to get in a month.
