Alabama

Nov 10:  we are back in Alabama, but this time on the coast.  We have never been in this part of the country.  We drove about 160 miles from Louisiana in about 4.5 hours.  One stop took a bit of time so that I could call to reup our Medical Insurance.  One of our biggest issues in the fall is not getting mail for over a month. We landed at Meaher State Park just east of Mobile.   Beautiful park, large sites, on the water, laundry and a little hiking.

Great restaurants near by, shrimp dinners tonight

Nov 11:  We headed to Dauphin Island today.

we did see a few dolphins but no pictures as they move way too fast for my camera.

We made a few stops including the local airport, looking for the elusive Nelsons Sparrow.  No luck..

this is the only painted oyster sculpture we have seen.

Our weather today was pretty cool (65) windy and overcast.  What the heck!  They forecasted 75 and sunny!!    When we got back home we found we had ants...  had to go shopping at the local Ace Hardware and Piggly Wiggly, (where they sell growlers of beer!!!) before dinner...

we tried their Flaming Oysters,

fried shrimp and grilled Red Fish.  all were very very good.

Nov 12  beautiful morning although a bit cool to begin the day. I had to get my winter coat out for our morning walk.  We stayed in the park for most of the morning before crossing the street to

we headed to Bayfront Park in Daphne, about 5 miles from our camp where we found about 100 Black Skimmers.

late lunch/early dinner at

possibly our final charbroiled oysters?  they call them fire grilled here.  So far they have all been pretty much the same.  Very Very Good.  I wonder if we will find them in the Panhandle?

beautiful sunset

Tomorrow we head to Florida.
