Even though it was a short drive we were pooped by the time we set up camp. We went to Publix for some Pink Florida shrimp to grill for dinner. Our site is very private, pull through but a bit noisy as it is near the road. There are lots of trees etc between us and the road but it is still pretty noisy.
Nice walking path on the dunes, the water is so blue! looks inviting...
the shrimp was jumbo and very very good.. we have enough left over for Wed's lunch...
Monday Nov 14: We went to Navarre beach about 20 miles west of here. Beautiful sunny day
Great Blue Heron came close for his picture
where we seen our 548th bird the elusive Nelson's sparrow....
We walked the beach for quite awhile, stopping at other places to walk and enjoy the weather including
A little breeze but plenty of sunshine made for a most perfect day to walk the beaches. Lots of white sand in our shoes. The sand is so white it almost looks like snow. At this time of year the beaches are pretty empty. There are a few brave souls that go into the water and a few that sun bath but most people are walking or looking for shells.
wonderful dinner of red snapper, corn crab chowder and blue cheese wedge salad.
Tues Nov 15: today was a relaxing day in the park. We seen bird #549 way out over the water, 100's of Black Scoters. After our morning beach walk we did a bit of cleaning then off to enjoy the beach.
the temp is about 75 with a little breeze. Summer is the tourist season, right now just a handful of people on the beach.
If these Laughing Gulls even think you have some food they come close and begin to make noise.
For dinner we went to Fort Walton Beach to visit with Eric's cousin Juli and family
David, Juli, Eric and Kathy
we had a great visit with their son Doug, daughter in law Jade and grandkids Cooper (2 1/2) and Penny (7 days). We had planned on seeing them in April on our way home but things came up.. So glad we were able to connect this time around.
Tomorrow we head to Tallahassee
We drove about 160 miles to a park just off of I10. We stayed here last April on our way home. Just before getting here we crossed into Eastern Std Time. We really don't like Eastern time.. it does not agree with our schedule but we will be here for 4 months so we just have to suck it up..
There is a nice walking area about 1 mile from our camp, after setting up we walked for about 2 hours.
Tomorrow Gainesville...
