September, Fall in the Northwoods

The month began a bit cool and the trees are beginning to lose their leaves and turn a beautiful red and gold.  Crisp mornings are great for walks as long as I am dressed properly. Hat, gloves and scarf is needed most mornings.

Golf leagues have come to an end for this season.  I really enjoy being outside, hitting a little white ball and especially the great fun ladies that I get to hang with every week.  I really prefer mornings so next year I will only be golfing on Wed morning.

Sept 13-15 Guys 20th Weekend in the Northwoods. Their one job is to fill up this space with chopped wood...

20th reunion deserves a bit of fireworks, and we have had lots of rain so its all good..

They all had a great time, eating, drinking, talking and just hanging.

Cousin/Friend Rose Williamson flew up from Chicago for the guys weekend.  I picked her up in Eau Claire on Friday.  We stayed at Treasure Island Casino in Red Wing Mn.

Rose made some friends that talked her into going down the slide, it was about 3 stories high and a dark tube that went outside before dumping into the pool.

Sunday night we went to see Jay Leno.  He was pretty good and kept us entertained for 90 minutes.

As Usual we had a great time, eating, drinking, dancing swimming and spending a few dollars in the casino.

Our family is still hanging around and the baby is now flying!  Getting ready to head south, maybe we will see them in Texas???

Sept 17 we took a day trip up to Duluth to find the Hudsonian Godwit and find it we did!  we have been looking for this guy for at least 5 years.  Right after we seen it the sky opened up and began to rain.  We were the last people to see this bird in Duluth.  the next day it was gone, so glad we decided to take a quick trip.

Sept 24-26 we went back to Duluth for the Fall migration at Hawk Ridge. The weather held up pretty good for us.

 the Golden Eagles usually don't come down until the middle of October so we did not see any of them but we did get to see a number of hawks and songbirds migrating.

Its time for us to begin our packing for our migration south!!!

So we did get one "life" bird this month and 3 new year birds
