Rain all night but the winds died down. No issues getting to Amarillo, We parked at the Amarillo Ranch RV Park. It has a indoor heated pool, laundry facilities and very level pads. A bit higher in price than we have been paying but it is close to everything and I needed to do a couple loads of laundry.
After setting up (which seems to be a lot easier than the old RV, which was not hard) we dressed warmly (45 deg), (I either lost or misplaced my mittens) to take a hike at
Eric looking for a new bird.. did not see any
I think we could use a blind like this by our wooded area.. of course it is a bit warmer, less buggy etc just sitting in my chair looking out the window at the birds.
We hiked for about 1.5 hours before looking for the elusive Best Buy. Found Best Buy but not what we were looking for! Dinner at a local Tortilla place. Food was good, as usual too much food and pretty cheap.
Spent the evening doing laundry. All in All a very good day.
Wed Nov 5: Decided to go to Cracker Barrel for Breakfast. too much food but very good as usual. We then headed to
about 3 miles of hiking and an 11 mile car tour around the refuge. Lots of signs:
did not see any of these animals. Nice blind to see the birds
We then went to the
nice small gardens, kind of like this butterfly garden:
roses still in bloom
these look like christmas ornaments hanging on the tree
time for dinner, we do not like to repeat restaurants but... we did
we could not do full meals so had steak sandwiches. my bun was very sweet and soooo good, Eric's sliders were good too. we were able to eat the entire meal! no doggy bag for us.
Full moon over Amarillo
great way to end our day.
tomorrow we head to Roswell New Mexico.
Well it doesn't look like we will be catching up to you, just heading to Amarillo today(Friday). Check out my blog later today as I'll be posting. Two day visit with relatives was wonderful.. Safe travels my friends...
