We left Wallace state park heading south to El Dorado Kansas. We were going to stay at El Dorado State Park but.... I really hate the showers, the park is beautiful with great hiking but.... so we ended up at
We are in the overflow site, not pretty but electricity, water and Cable.. we are about 20 feet from the shower house.
After settling in we went to the state park to hike a few trails, dinner in town at a local place that had wonderful catfish! too much for us to finish so catfish tacos on the menu in the next day or two.
We settled in for the night, no trick or treaters came to our door.. good thing as we did not have anything to give away.. The temp is to get to 27 tonight! pretty cold for this time of the year in Kansas.
Saturday: sure was cold this morning but our heaters worked perfectly. Time to get out and see Wichita and El Dorado.
Our first stop was to take a hike around El Dorado and a stop at:
a beautiful memorial to 13 people who lost their lives.
I wanted to go to Best Buy in Wichita but as usual we could not find it! I took the address off of the internet, as we have had issues in the past using the GPS. Well needless to say we did not find Best Buy. will try again in another city. The rest of our journey was wonderful. We went to the Great Plains Nature Center for a walk. The paths were concrete or asphalt and meandered through various habitats. It was a cool and very windy walk. We only did about 2 miles there, it was time to eat! Off to Old Town Wichita for lunch.
this is not ours but looks like a wonderful Bloody Mary served with ribs, smoked sausage sandwich, cheese, tomatoes and lots of other stuff!
I need to recommend this place to anyone who stops in Wichita. If we ever come back I will order a Bloody Mary.
We did order pulled pork and brisket sandwiches. both were fabulous. the brisket is smoked for 18 hours and melted in our mouth.
after our wonderful lunch we headed to the Keeper of the Plains
a great place to visit, there was a museum that we did not go into, lots of walking paths. The wind really picked up so we cut our walking short.
tomorrow we head to Oklahoma.. hoping to find that warm weather although it is suppose to be very very windy tomorrow.
We are planning an overnight near Wichita so will definately go to Bite Me. Thanks for the recommendation.. I'm on the road and starting my blog.. See you soon. Safe travels.
