After fighting the wind all day yesterday we found Red Rock Canyon State Park in Hinton, OK. About 60 from Oklahoma City. Small park but pull throughs with 50 amp service for $20 and new shower houses. Our drive was not too bad, even though the wind was sustained at 30 miles per hour for a while. If we had been in our old RV and Truck we would/could not have attempted the trip. Our gas mileage went from 11.5 to 9 mpg with mostly head winds.

We did not see any signs nor did we have a map. Luckily Eric brought the knapsack with water and snacks. We were following colored ribbons, not knowing what they meant.. After 3 hours and 5 miles,
We finally seen pavement but had to get down this path first.
Eric has been lucky so far that the parks have been paved. He is able to ski-skate without too much trouble.
We headed into El Reno for dinner and a bit of shopping. We went to Sid's for the famous El Reno Fried Onion Burger.
THE BURGERS ARE PREPARED BY STARTING WITH A BALL OF GROUND BEEF. THIS IS COVERED WITH A MOUND OF SLICED ONIONS THAT'S TWICE THE MASS OF THE MEAT. WITH SEVERAL WHACKS OF THE SPATULA, THE PAPER-THIN ONION SLICES ARE INFUSED INTO THE MEAT PATTIES AND MELD INTO A GOOEY WHOLE. BUNS ARE PLACED ATOP THE PATTY WHILE GRILLING TO ABSORB ANY JUICES THAT GET AWAY.
the burgers were fabulous, the fries were pretty good.. But ya gotta love onions to have one of these burgers.
Tomorrow we head to Amarillo Tx.
