Yesterday April 22: Eric planted the potatoes! White and reds are in the ground. We will have to wait for a while to plant the rest.
Saturday April 23: We headed up to Duluth Mn to look for the Bohemian Waxwing. We looked for it last year when we went to the Sax Zim bog fest in Feb. when it was minus 34 deg! Today it was + 34 deg, so a bit warmer! The wind was howling off of the lake (Superior) but we were determined to find this elusive bird. Someone had seen it yesterday so we hoped to find it today.
Yea... we found two! it took us about an hour of walking around the park. It was well worth fighting the wind and driving 200 miles (round trip) to find this beautiful bird.
The sun finally came out, well not in this picture but it did make a showing. Yes I did have long underwear and flannel lined jeans. I should have worn a warmer hat as the wind was really blowing.
Of course a nice lunch to celebrate our new bird, a few more hikes on the way home. Wonderful day in the Northwoods and on Lake Superior.
