Monday April 4, Our 225 mile trip from Mississippi to Arkansas took about 12 hours.. 8 of which were sitting on the side of the road waiting for help with our blow outs.
our first one was about 80 miles into our trip
Eric was able to get the tire off but part of the rubber was wrapped around the wheel. We had to call for help. It took him about 2 hours to show up. With the correct equipment it took the tech about 3 minutes to get it off. another 2 minutes to attach the spare and we are on our way. It was not too bad as the weather was warm (80's) and sunny. We drove about 30 miles when BAM
the next tire blew. Well now we don't have another spare and we have one more tire on the other side that will more than likely blow. After 5 hours and numerous calls we finally dropped the 5th Wheel, drove to the nearest town picked up 4 tires and waited for the tech to come again. He got us back on the road in about an hour. He changed all 4 tires including the one that about 500 miles on it. We got back on the road by 7 pm with another 95 miles to our campground outside Memphis.
all in all not a bad day, we were able to enjoy our final day in shorts and t-shirts and we had no other plans for the day.
April 5 we headed to southern Illinois Rend Lake. We arrive at Gun Creek ACOE, of course it was raining.. the weather had turned, long pants, long sleeve shirt and jackets. We will be here for 2 nights. Since it was raining I switched out my summer clothes for my "winter" clothes. Tomorrow will be blustery and cold....
