It was another rainy trip but not as much fog as yesterday. We arrived in 4 hours and 155 miles to the Hill Country RV park. as with most parks in these areas it is gravel with old bathrooms. After setting up we headed to the state park. Because of the all of the rain they had closed the trails! So we headed to our favorite grocery store HEB! then to downtown.
Although it was misting the town was really busy with tourists, shopping and eating. Fredericksburg allows drinking on the sidewalks so lots of places to get beer and wine. The street is lined with stores, restaurants and a few museums.
Being a German town we had to have German food!
the beer was very cold and very good, we had the "spring" rolls too, again very good
our dinners were OK, nothing to write home about. Would not recommend this place, as it did now "Wow" us.
After stuffing our faces we had to walk the town again. It really is a cute town.
Sunday March 22: back to the state park for a hike
not planning on going to the top of the hill
we took about a 3.5 mile hike around the hill
beautiful flowers
these girls made it to the top
we ended going a bit more than half way up! got a bit lost on the trails
Next stop
its a huge flea market held once a month. fun stuff to look
Myrtle Manor?
next on the route was
cute place, but neither Willie or Waylon were there...
the post office- now a store
feed lot
bar
one of the stages
bathrooms
it was a very calm place even with all the people and the band. good place to hang...
tomorrow we are heading about 35 miles to Blanco State Park for a few days. weather is suppose to get warm, might be able to put shorts on! and we are done with the rain for a few days.
Monday March 23: we did not have to leave the park until noon so we went hiking at
trees are blooming!
this tunnel is home to bats from April to Oct.
we thought we could see some bats in the tunnel, but... it was a nice place to hike and wait for the fog to burn off.
