Tombstone and Bisbee

We went driving through an area that needs spell check...

Tuesday March 3, 2015.  on our way to Tombstone we stopped at Fairbanks

its a Ghost town and birding spot!

of course we had to stop by the cemetery

the old train depot is gone and so are the tracks but the platform is still there, waiting for the next train to Tombstone

finally made it to Tombstone, by truck not train

Wyatt Earp's town...

very cute little town, lots to do if you want to spend the day. Walking, stagecoach and trolley tours plus a few museums and lots of shops.

time for lunch at the Crystal Palace.  pretty good burgers and fries.

time to head to Bisbee, about 25 miles south of Tombstone

Bisbee is an old copper mining town.  cute place with lots of shops etc... and of course you can tour the mine.  its kind of an artsy place with lots of hotels and inns..

we found a micro brewery

had to get the sampler, 6 beers, 1 wine and root beer!  it was all good and a fun place to spend some time.

time to go to the San Pedro House for more birding.

found this Lark Sparrow

and a ground squirrel

a 100+ year old cotton wood tree...  makes Eric look very small

turned out to be a very good day.  busy but fun and the weather held up.  about 60 but sunny and no wind to speak of...
