Happy New Year 2015

We watched Mexico City and Acapulco ring in the New Year last night.  (10:00 our time).  We love it here at ORPS but it is time to move along.  We are ready to get back on the road, of course if forced to we could stay for another 3 months...

We generally go out for dinner on the 1st day of the year but since we are moving and not sure what is open today at the Salton Sea area we went out for breakfast

German Pancake and French toast

they were both very good at Elmers...

The Salton Sea is about 62 miles east of here, planning on leaving here at about 10 am.  Well we did not get out until 10:50, took one last walk around the resort.

Arrived at Fountain of Youth RV park in Niland CA at about 12:00.  The drive was pretty uneventful. The people are soooo nice here.  The park is not as beautiful or kept up as well but it is vey nice.  It has everything we need:

Exercise room:

Salt water pool and a chlorine pool:

Mineral water hot tubs:

Steam room (my favorite):

After setting up we took a 3 mile walk in the desert that is attached to the park.

Our lot is pretty big, the pads are gravel, and not real level, we have seen worse.

Jan 2: after checking out the fitness center we headed to the Sonny Bono WLR.  It was a cool morning (28) but the sun came out and warmed up to 60.  We seen a lot of birds, we are not good with the shore birds but managed to ID a few.  And we got two new birds!  One of them was the burrowing owl.. been looking for this bird for at least 2 years..

we did not get back home until after dark.  We did enjoy the steam room and hot tubs!

Sat Jan 3:

Bird walk at the State Park on the Salton Sea.  We were able to get a couple of shore birds, they all look the same to us...  we really need a guide.

Off to Thermal to the

had to get one last Date shake before we leave SoCal

We need to walk the resort when we got back as we have not done so yet..  Lots of activities including tennis courts/pickle ball courts, bocce ball, horse shoes, shuffle board and a pool hall! We walked into the pool hall, there were 10 tables, 8 of them were being used and it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop!  not sure why it was so quiet..

We got back and to our surprise our friends Kim and Fred were parked right behind us!

beautiful sunset:

A great way to begin the year
