Yuma birding

Tuesday Jan 13:  we left the house at about 8 and got back at about 5.  We did get one new bird today, should have had two....  We spent the morning birding then headed into town for lunch and at the farmers market.  beautiful and inexpensive fruits and veggies....

Kim and Fred recommended this place for lunch
 It's not really a casino:

Eric got the heart stopping special, hamburger and hot dog sandwich. it was actually pretty good.  I had the grilled chicken sandwich that was really good.

more birding on the Colorado

The Ocean to Ocean Bridge was a critical link in joining the Atlantic to Pacific Oceans with a highway. The bridge was built across the Colorado River between Yuma, Arizona and Fort Yuma, California in 1914 and 1915 for $76,000 and dedicated during a citywide celebration May 22-23, 1915. At the time of its opening, the bridge provided the first safe, economical crossing of the river at Yuma and it was the only vehicle bridge across the Colorado River for 1,200 miles. The Ocean to Ocean Bridge now joins Yuma, Arizona and Winterhaven, California.

today it is a one lane bridge

Beautiful day to be outside, the weather was perfect for an all day adventure.

Wed Jan 14:  another allay birding day..  we were looking for LeConte's Thrasher but did not luck out!  If we don't find it soon we will not be able to see it after we leave the area.

We did see some hawks and a Great Horned Owl

We went downtown for dinner at:

Eric got a flight of beer
 and smoked chicken
I have a smoked turkey, bacon, avocado and provolone cheese sandwich.

the food was pretty good, so was the beer.  Eric said it was the best smoked chicken he had ever had! He was going to bring some home but ate the entire meal!

another beautiful day to be outside..  we might go see some sights tomorrow...
